Basic Rules of Roleplaying Empty Basic Rules of Roleplaying

Post by Admin Sun Dec 30, 2018 11:55 pm

Here are some basic rules you need to know in order to roleplay on this forum.

Basic Forum Rules

Minimum Word Count
100.  The minimum word count required in a post is 100.  A post under 100 words will be considered invalid if the word count falls under 100.  It is our belief that roleplaying takes a conscious effort to do and anything less than 100 words is considered "lazy".

Use of Color
Please keep in mind the use of color in your posts.  While I do enjoy using color or glow in my text, some colors may be difficult to see depending on the theme the user is using.
:: On darker themes, a dark purple or dark blue may be extremely difficult to see.
:: On lighter themes, yellow or cyan may be difficult to see.
Just keep this in mind when writing up a post.

Use of images
For a standard roleplaying, try not to use more than 5 images in a single post.  If you are writing something like a history, then multiple images will be fine.  However, bear in mind that massive images may be edited out if it's obstructing people's ability to read a post (whether on mobile or on desktop).  Images used in posts must have something to do with the post.  Images used in posts must also follow similar rules to Avatar and Signature rules -- AKA:  No nudity.

Use of OOC in a thread
Keep these to a minimum.  The following are acceptable for OOC in a thread --
Posting Word Count
Posting Word Count Total
Posting Post Count / Total
Saying good things about those roleplaying -- but keep it brief
Using Post Tags
@ing a player (If/When we get that module up and running)
Using OOC (out of Character) to flame, bait, or otherwise belittle a player or character may result in punitive actions.

Flaming
Flaming is essentially causing someone to get angry whether it's through insults, passive aggression, or slights.  Anything used to anger someone WILL not be tolerated.  This is allowed if used IC against a character -- but never EVER will it be allowed to be used against someone as a player.  This also applies to PMs on-site and other site-related mediums.

Flame-Baiting
This isn't allowed either.  Flame-Baiting is the act of 'baiting' someone to say something that would get them in trouble.  This can be seen as 'goading' or 'intentionally stirring up trouble'.  This IS allowed IC against a character -- but never EVER will it be allowed to be used against someone as a player.  This also applies to PMs on-site and other site-related mediums.

Griefing
Or intentionally pestering another player/character.  While, as long as it is legitimate IC, we do not condone (rather, we condemn) griefing if it was fueled by OOC motivation.  This can be, but is not limited to:
- Constantly fighting the same character, killing their character over-and-over
- Mob-Mentality on an 'easy target' or a person that is universally disliked by a one or a group of individuals and results in bullying for no IC reason.
- Doing something to someone's character (such as stealing from their house, etc) without the player's expressed permission.
Griefing is a serious offense and anyone caught with Griefing may face some ban-time.

Bullying
This doesn't need to be defined as we all know what it is.  Bullying will NOT be tolerated.  This can be staff members bullying or people bullying staff members.  Don't do it.  We don't need that in our community.

Cursing
IC is fine. You can use whatever curse words (as long as they aren't derogatory to any group of individuals OOC) conceivable IC.
OOC, don't do it. It'll make us look bad.
